  1. Great April Fool’s joke. I found it especially interesting today as I am working on a project in my master’s program this week, reviewing and evaluating the “Google Story.” I have five books from the library sitting on my desk about Google. It’s a great story and an amazing organization. I would love to see “Googleplex” sometime. Oh, and I have been to Topeka. Wonderful city in Kansas. You need to see the KSU campus in the fall. It’s beautiful.

  2. Suspect many, many former Googlers had Kansas atop their brackets, and this is a way to acknowledge that. What is Kansas had survived? Would this instead by Syracuse?

  3. i forgot its april 1st and i was thinking “this must be some sort of stunt, how can they afford it”… i feel better knowing its april 1st now and it all makes sense, i mean how can you find a better name then Google honestly just think about it

  4. At first I was like “are you kidding me”? All the money they’re going to loose out on, the transition that will take people years to switch to, and just HOW STUPID to change their name to “Topeka” lol but until I read this I forgot about april fools…. GOOD JOB GOOGLE lol 🙂 but PLEASE keep your name the same!

  5. As everyone else, i was baffled at Googles decision to change their name after spending all the money and efforts on building the current “GOOGLE” status. But think about it, it would have been sooo stupid to change Google to Topeka just because Topeka, KS changed their name to Google, KS. Would Google, KS then change back to Topeka, KS???:)

    Nice prank!

  6. Zounds! A company with a sense of humor! Can you imagine IBM, Microsoft or Disney doing anything this playfull? Well done Google.
